To get a flat stomach, you need to work on cardio more than anything. Crunches will only add muscle definition to your abdominal area. Cardio will burn fat. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do crunches though, keep doing crunches if you want.
It’s been proven that cardio and strength training are the most effective ways to get a flatter stomach. So, try doing at least 30+ minutes of cardio a day. Lift weights too, do 3 sets of 8-12 reps or you can just do a lot of push-ups. Add the crunches you normally do if you’d like.
I’m not sure…maybe start out at a hundred crunches and work up a bit each day…
