You have to do cardio. When you do cardio, you burn fat evenly all over your body. Doing ab exercises only tone the muscles underneath the fat so go running, biking, dancing – whatever gets your heart pumping!!
That is the hardest place to get rid of it. You’ll want to start keeping track of your body fat. Find a chart that shows your ideal body fat. Lift weights to squeeze all of the "sugar" out of your muscles and then do 30 minutes of cardio. Your liver will metablolize the fat closest to it in your belly. If you don’t see improvement in body fat then you may need to keep track of your calories and eat only low fat whole foods. Keep it up.
I had a friend who was in good shape but swore she would always have a bulging belly because of c-sections. She started doing as I suggested and she’s had amazing abs ever since. Even went to get a belly button piercing to celebrate!
Try and get off the couch. Being more active increases the metabolism and you are more likely to work your abs playing outside or just about anything but lying horizontal on the couch. Read more below.

walk, run, jog, cycle, just think of it this ways your belly fat is the fuel and your legs are the engine!!!!!!!! goodluck
Avoiding carbohydrates and a few crunches daily should do the trick. You can also try doing some pilates exercises that focuses on the abdominal area. GAIAM has good pilates instructional videos. they’re about $15-20 and well worth the money. A DVD usually comes with a few workouts varying in length from 15 minutes to 1 hour.
Hello,
What worked for me and what I now have my clients do is a combination of full body abs exercises and interval training.
Simply doing crunches will not get rid of your belly fat. The best to tone up the abs is with bodyweight movements like mountain climbers and the plank. And nothing burns belly fat like interval training. This is where you would exercises at a hard pace for 60 seconds then instaed of stopping to catch your breath you would slow down for 60 seconds.
Let say you use running. Run for 60 seconds then jog for 60 seconds to catch your breath, then run again for 60 seconds. Repeat this four to six times and you’ll get a flat belly in no time.
Hope this helps.
