To get a flat stomach, take the following into consideration:
-If you want to ‘trim up’, you have to lower your overall body fat percentage. This is achieved by dieting, or cardio (or any other calorie-demanding activities).
-Doing multiple repetitions with little resistance will not promote fat loss. For example, curling a dumbbell 100 times will not remove any of the fat surrounding the biceps brachii muscle group.
If you are interesting in making your six pack show, keep this in mind:
-The rectus abdominis is naturally shaped with 8 protrusions. (hence the 8-pack that everyone strives for) To make it more prominent, you simply have to reduce your overall body fat percentage. Doing several hundred situps a day will not burn any of the fat around your abdominal region, nor will it ‘make’ a six pack.
