the only way to lose fat is cardio which is the only fat burning exercise - running, jogging, swimming, cycling, rope jumping, hiking etc. - do it 4-6 times a week for average of 45min.
toning exercises only tone - they dont burn any fat.
and eat healthy, fresh, unprocessed foods, small meals every 2-3 hours that way your body gets enough calories when it needs them and doesnt have any extra left to store in fat reserves (which happens when you eat 3 big meals a day)

If I had to guess I'd say you play football. But that doesn't matter. To lose fat on your stomache, and make it FLATTER. Do not work it out like you would your biceps, and chest. This only builds muscle, not reduce fat. There is only one way, you must run, and you must love running(not really, but might as well), because running will slim you down overall, including belly. Try imagining working your bicep, you do curls, you see it get bigger, and rounder(solid muscle, yes) but this is growth, not reduction. That's what you do when doing crunches or any ab workouts. You build the muscle, but it doesn't do any good if it's hidden behind inches of fat!

I brisk walk quite a bit together with my diet low carb, low fat, high fibre, high protein, and my tummy is quite flat. I noticed that the fats there were first to go. You may want to try it.

Eat lesser fats and more veggies and lean meat. Can you say goodbye to french fries and cakes and other similar simple carbohydrates?

The person that said crunches is wrong. The best way to lose fat, in any situation, is a combination of weight-training, dieting, and cardiovascular exercise.

If you haven't been lifting weights recently, pick it up again. Simultaneously cut back on drinking soda, beer, whatever-- hold onto water as your main source of hydration. Make sure to try to eat better foods and watch caloric intake.

The biggest thing with you, though, is to do cardio. Try jogging for a few miles three days a week (at least). If you can jog three miles at a moderate pace (about 6 mph, so it should take you a half -hour to do three miles) and follow the above, you will lose weight. Try going to 6 days a week (one day break) if you can.

This is important, so listen carefully. YOU CANNOT SPOT REDUCE. Doing crunches will strengthen your muscles, but it will not eliminate the fat from that area. Only Cardio will do that. Good luck!

Toning does just that - tones and strengthens the muscles.

It's CARDIO that is the major fat burner. Sure, adding muscle mass increases the rate at which you burn calories even at rest, but all-in-all it's through running, jogging, or whatever that really gets your heart rate up in order to burn fat not only around your core area, but all over your body.

I'd suggest keeping up with your core exercises, like crunches, but definately increasing your cardio.

Good luck.

One exercise that targets the stubborn stomach area is called The Bicycle. To do The Bicycle, simply lay on the floor pressing your lower back to the ground. Your hands are beside your head. Bring your knees to an approximate 45-degree angle and slowly go through the motion of pedaling a bicycle. Your left elbow will touch your right knee and then your right elbow will touch your left knee.
