I'm in my fourth month of pregnancy. I don't know my weight for certain, but I think I've stayed steady. My pre-pregnancy clothes still fit, and despite the baby pudge in my abdomin and my bigger breasts, I don't notice much difference. (Well, one of my bras doesn't fit anymore, but others do and I have some bigger ones from when I was bigger that work, too. However, my other bras still fit, especially since one has stretchy cups that I wear under tank tops which I wear under blouses.)

Even before my pregnacny, I stuck with whole natural foods, eating them as close as to what God made them. It's not only good for me, but good for my baby as well. I didn't get in the habit of using the treadmill. (It broke before the 30 days return expired, so my husbnad returned it. It worked out. It's more or less spring so I'll start outdoor walking again and the money turned out to be needed for repairs on my husband's car. As I told my husband when he made the comment about the money, God blesses how God sees fit. I digress.)

I also stay away from most processed, pre-made food. Exceptions include my veggie burgers and chick'n; The whole wheat bread that's in the fridge (I should make some more, but I was sick last week and we were out so we picked some up at the store; I buy the light kind where the corn syrup listing is lower on the list) cold cereal (that I have with vanilla soy milk) and some canned foods, like the Progresso soup. (It's healthier than Campbell's, no corn syrup, and it tastes better. It's great for lunches or dinners when I have no energy or desire to cook.) I also have canisters of quick oats, but it's just oats that are lightly processed (over regular oats) so they cook quicker. (Instant oatmeal is more processed and has stuff added to it for the flavorings an preservatives and is more expensive anyway.)

I don't eat meat or dairy or eggs and I generally stay away from fried foods, unless I know it's natural, i.e., stir fry.

If your doctor is agreeable to you losing weight, then talk with him/her. S/He will have suggestions. Also, there are some pregnancy boards (iVillage comes to mind) where you can also talk with other moms who would have suggestions. Also, post this on the pregnancy Answers section and request site links, too.

Anyway, I hope I've been of some help.

Your best bet is to get some help. You can consider weight watchers, or one of those LA weight loss centers etc. Look in your yellow pages to find out what is offered in your community.

My friend lost weight while pregnant by eating lots of lean proteins like turkey, fish and chicken and ate few carbs. She also went on gentle walks. Nothing too strenuous and she slimmed down and was a beautiful pregnant woman.

Lots of walking will help. Besides eat really healthy lots of veggies and fruit it will be good for both you and the baby. If you need something sweet try a granny smith apple sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar, or with peanut butter. Just keep away from the junk food and both of these combined should help. Also drink lots of water, try and stay away from any soda even diet. You will eventually notice that you start craving water.

When my friends mom was pregnant with her, she went on a certain diet. She started yoga and gave up all foods that came out of a box (i.e. like crackers, chips, pre packaged food. ingrediants are ok). She also gave up all foods with ingrediants in them that she could not pronounce. She looked healthy, and felt healthy. She is still on the same diet and looks fabulous. She is healthy too. So, basically going all natural is a good idea. You are still getting all the vitamins and food you need, but in a healthier way. Good luck, and happy parenting.

I did a search on Google for 1200 calorie lowfat diet and this is what I got. This is similar to the diet from Curves fitness I am following now.

www.stronghealth.com/services/primarycare/pdf/1200.pdf

This gives you a lot of food to eat, only nutrient-packed and high density that digests slowly. It gives you a snack before lunch and a snack before dinner. So you actually eat 5 times a day. I love it and am doing well on it but you have to carefully shop for ingredients beforehand so you have them there to make up your meals. No substituting.
