The Computer That I REALLY Want!
lose belly fat

www.messersmith.name/wordpress/2009/11/20/the-computer-th…
I sit at my desk most days keeping at least two computers humming desperately to keep up with my demands. I have two screens and two keyboard/mouse inputs. I could use an automatic switch to use the same keyboard and mouse to control both computers, but that’s too easy. While I’m waiting for something to finish on one machine, I’ve started something else going on the other. It’s not that I’m such a whiz, it’s just that computers are so infernally stupid and slow. I constantly have to explain what I want in the most minute detail. And I have to do it with my decrepit old fingers.

I tried vioce recognition. Let me tell you. We’re just a hair’s breadth away from making that work. I’ve already dictated most of two magazine articles using the VR that’s built right into Windows 7. It works just fine, once you get it trained.

But why do I even have to talk? Here’s a sunrise to look at while you’re thinking about that bit of craziness:

I want a computer that’s built in. I don’t want to have to plug anything into my neck or my belly-button. When I’m stumbling down the street in Amsterdam, I want to be able to think, "Beelzeebubba, show me the way to my hotel." You see, my computer’s name is a nonsense word that I’d be extremely unlikely to use normally. That’s how the computer knows that I’m asking it and not some stranger on the street or I have used its name in casual conversation. (except in the extremely unlikely case in which a telepath named Beelzeebubba happens to be standing close to me) That’s why the old Star Trek  thing of saying, "Computer!" every time you want something from it won’t work. Every time you speak (or think) the word ‘computer’ the stupid thing answers back, "Huh?, Waddaya want?" You would certainly not want to name your computer Uhh or Hmm.

I should be able to ask questions like, "If I jumped out of this plane, how long would it be before I hit the ground?" The computer, knowing that I"m on United 12 from Kewanee to Kankakee (no such flight, by the way), knows exactly where I am and at what altitude. It also knows the elevation above sea level under the plane. It should come back with something like, "It will take three minutes and twelve seconds plus or minus five seconds with a 90% confidence level."

I would be comforted by the knowing. Here’s another sunrise while you digest that:

My computer should be powered by my own metabolism. If Beelzeebubba seems a little sluggish, I just eat more and the peppiness will return. If I’m putting a little air in my spare tire (my tire is presently very spare), I just think, "Beelzeebubba, calculate the value of π to 10 googoplex places and send it to my CNN IReport account." and I’ll lose a couple of kilos. The exertion of that task will consume some of my excess body fat and I’ll return to my svelte normality.

Here, calm your frayed nerves with this mind number (as in numbing your mind). Your hands will feel like two balloons:

I want to be able to think, "Beelzeebubba, get me to Rangoon by Friday Noon and charge it to Bill Gates." I would like to muse, "Beelzeebubba, could God be manipulating the universe through quantum entanglement?" (one of my pet theories) I would like to ponder, "Beelzeebubba, what do women want?"

Beelzeebubba would obey my commands and answer all of these questions and more. Here, stare at this a while. Stop when you feel dizzy: Beelzeebubba would communicate with me by direct connections to my optic, auditory and other essential nerve fibres. I’d ‘hear’ it speaking to me and ‘see’ what it wants to show me. The visual stuff would appear as a ‘heads up’ display in my field of vision. The spoken voice would sound like Olivia Newton-John. In the background there would always be the faint hum of roller skates.

Beelzeebubba would also monitor my state of health, if I want it to. Constant nagging about not smoking and "that’s enough beer" could be filtered out. "You are about to have a heart attack!", I might not want to filter. Or maybe I would. It would, of course, perceive everything that I see, hear, touch, smell and taste. It would advise me if I were drinking the wrong wine with pressed duck. More sunrise action? Okay, have this one: That’s Coconut Point.

I’d be able to command Beelzeebubba to, "Write me an article for Niugini Blue  called Heart of the Hunter.  Use what I’m currently thinking about as the theme. ( I now let my mind wander around in the subject matter.) Use the images that I’m imagining. Fill in any gaps in my knowledge from the web. Have it ready in a half-hour."

In the evening, when I’m ready for some sack time, I could think, "Beelzeebubba, knock me out until 05:00. Schedule six variations of what I’m going to think about for the next sixty seconds as my dream sequence. Keep it clean and no violence or ethnic jokes. Oh, and I don’t want to hear anything about Britney Spears!"

That’s the computer that I want.

The Rapid Fat Loss Diet

TAGGED! 8 Random things about me
lose belly fat

So, I didn’t get officially tagged, I got invited to be :) I thought it would be nice to try and write down 8 random facts about me.

1. I’m very insecure about myself. Mostly my appearance. I think I’m too fat and ugly. (The above picture was taken September 2008 during a glamourshoot, I gained more weight since then and even if it isn’t supposed to be hard to look good in a professional shoot, there were ony like 3 good pics of me, out of 50!)
About 3 years ago I actually lost 20 kilos, but they’re all back again. I felt pretty then, and skinny and secure. But I wasn’t myself at that time, and the only thing I was certain about, was my exterior. I doubted the rest. So, I guess that subconsciously I don’t want to go back to that place anymore because it wasn’t right either. I have to learn to accept myself for who I am and what I am capable of.

2. I lost my mom about 4 years ago and even if I have adjusted with time, life just isn’t the same without her. It’s like everything is a bit less colourful so to say. She had a strong believe in the supernatural, she was sort of a psychich. I grew along with her, believing what she believed too. But ever since ‘they’ took her away from me I’m having a hard time believing. I can’t see why someone like her had to be taken away. Not just for my sake, but for all those people she helped and loved. For all the good she could have done. And I just know she could pull it off. I believed in her, more than anything.

3. I love to watch shows and movies about the supernatural. Harry Potter, Supernatural, Twilight, Vampire Diaries, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dark Angel, Roswell, you name it.
Recently I discovered reading again, I used to love it when I was younger until I had to read SO much books for school they ruined it for me.

I want to become a writer someday. I love to write as much as I do reading. I lose myself in another world and it’s great. I envy people who have writing skills. I envy people with beautiful singing voices and musical skills too. I’d love to be a singer too but I’m being realistic here :)

4. I hoard stuff, got that from both my mom AND dad. When I discover a new interest or hobby, I totally LOSE myself in it. I have to have everything there is about it, do it all. At first it was like that with love. I lost myself when I fell in love with my hubby, it took me severaly years to find myself again.
Now, my attic is like a scrapbookstore, bead-paradise, fabric-factory, I own 9 Blythes and am building them a huge house with everything in it (they own more than 100 pairs of shoes!), I have a dragon collection of over 250 items, etc. I own over 120 necklaces, 100 bracelets and a gazillion earrings.
When I love an actor/singer (and yes, I fall in love frequently with those unobtainable men) (another quirky thing about me) I buy all their CDs, DVDs, posters, etc. Keanu Reeves, Hugh Jackman, Jared Leto, Jensen Ackles are/were all men that rock(ed) my boat!

5. Even though I LOVE classical ballet, I’m no good at it. It just keeps enchanting me, it’s like magic to me. Kind of like a (sweet sorrowful) memory from a past. I started ballet again when I was 24 and I even got to do points, but I look like a huge hippo.

6. I suffer from endometriosis which is a pain in the belly, litterally. It has prevented me from having kids for almost 5 years now. I am undergoing my 4th IVF attempt as we speak, and hope to become a mother one day soon.

7. I love all things England. The language, the island itself. Hubby and I went there 3 times and every time I saw those ‘white cliffs of Dover’ from the boat, it felt like coming home. I love Arthurian legends as well, hence my name, Lady Guinevere.

8. I wish I weren’t so lazy all the time. Instead of hanging on the couch watching telly, I wish I had more energy. My creative juices don’t flow as much as I want them too, it’s like they’re linked to my hormones. I want to scrap and sew every day, and fast, but I can’t.

The keys to getting rid of belly fat” You can have the greatest, most muscular set of abs in the world, but if they are blanketed by a layer of body fat, who cares. In order to rid yourself of the extra body fat around your midsection, you need to incorporate effective cardio sessions into your fitness plan. You cannot spot-reduce the midsection by doing extra ab exercises like crunches or sit-ups. You first must burn off the body fat through proper cardio to properly define the area. Abdominal training by itself will not do much. Cardio needs to be intense enough to do the trick. Three to four sessions a week of intense jogging, running, the Stairmaster, the elliptical, jumping rope, or biking should be enough to get the process in gear. Swimming, hiking, and taking aerobics classes are beneficial as well. Nothing beats jogging or running. It is the most intense, efficient, and effective method of burning calories. If running outside hurts your joints, try running inside on a treadmill or outside on a dirt path. It definitely is easier on the body. Again, you NEED three to four intense cardio sessions a week to help create a calorie deficit and help rid the body of the fat that covers your abs. How to put pretty stuff in those drops. Tutorial below:
how to get a flat belly

Water Drop Photography Tutorial

Or how to squeeze flowers into those teeny-weenie drops

I have always been drawn to nature and wildlife photography. I love taking my camera way up north to capture images of seldom-seen animals and exotic scenery. Unfortunately, we can’t always plan distant adventures to shoot photographs of moose and northern lights. But we can train our eyes to find the unexpected beauty in our own backyards.

My fascination (some might call it an obsession) with water drops began when I bought a Nikon D200 last summer. Sadly, the lens I wanted was out of stock. There was no way I was going to just look at my camera body while I waited, so I picked up a Nikkor 60mm macro. Through that lens I discovered worlds of complexity hidden within the simplest tiny drops of water.

I’m often asked if the images inside the water drops are real or the product of Photoshop. Let me assure you they are real, and anyone can find them if they know how to look. Simple physics produces these tiny, beautiful and common images. Water is cohesive, it naturally bonds together in the shape of a sphere, and in that shape it functions as a miniature lens that will refract nearby objects. Using that organic lens as seen through your technological lens, will allow you to explore those tiny, complex worlds.

The water drop photos on my stream have been the result of an evolutional process. My most viewed, most faved and most interesting photo (according to flickr) was taken almost by luck, lying flat on my belly using a Diet Coke can as tripod. But after a great deal of trial and error, I’ve come up with a few simple, consistent steps for more easily creating a water drop photograph.

1. Focus
2. Focus
3. Composition
4. Background

1. Focus: No, that’s not a typo; focus is listed twice, and for a very good reason. It’s necessary to consider the focus of the water drop itself as well as the focus of the subject displayed within the drop. My initial concern is the water drop itself and the plant on which the drop is located. I like to set my camera to aperture priority to control the depth of field. The trick is to have enough depth of field so the drop and the plant (and maybe some nearby drops) are all in focus, while leaving the background sufficiently blurred so it doesn’t compete for attention. I generally use f8 to f10 but I’ll sometimes stop down to f18 if the background does not need as much blur. I also find I get a sharper focus by backing away just a little and cropping the photo, rather than getting as close as possible in an attempt to get maximum magnification.

2. Focus: As seen in the example above, the water drop is in focus as is the image of the flower seen through the water drop, but the flower itself is not in focus. That effect is achieved not by adjusting the camera, but by relying on the water drop to act as a fixed focal lens. In other words, instead of adjusting the camera I adjust the object I want to appear within the water drop. I simply move it back or forward until I’ve found the clarity of focus I want. Some photos look better with blurred refractions. For the greatest clarity I’ve found the object should be 3-4 inches behind the water drop. This, of course, may vary if using a different macro lens. Be sure to experiment.

3. Composition: Obviously, the guidelines for good composition apply to water drop photographs. Attention should be given to the Rule of Thirds, to simplicity, to the geometry within the frame, and to all the usual elements of visual composition. It’s important to remember, though, when photographing water drops that the very shape of the drop influences compositional decisions. Since the lens of the water drop is spherical (or nearly so), slight adjustments in the camera position…left, right, up, down…can have a radical effect on what is seen within the drop. Again, experiment.

4. Background: If you’re working from nature, your control over the background is necessarily limited. You have to work with what you’ve got. As mentioned earlier, the unique qualities of the organic lens formed by a drop of water allows you to make minor adjustments in the camera position that will have a profound effect on what’s seen within the drop. With a few simple props, you can gain better control over the background. For example, I often rely on a large sheet of insulation, which is bright blue on one side. I originally used it to block the wind, but noticed that even on the dreariest of days it can mimic a perfect azure sky.

Other Considerations: Almost every time I set out to take photographs of water drops, I learned something new. There was always some new factor to consider. I learned, for example, I could get bigger, more cohesive and more interesting drops on humid days. I discovered that even the slightest wind could have disastrous effects on macro focusing, as well as on the water drops themselves. I found that very slightly adjusting the exposure (-0.3EV to –0.7EV) would compensate for the natural sheen of the surface of the water drop, keeping it from being somewhat burnt out. Most important, I had to teach myself to remember that because a water drop acts as an organic lens, it presents everything upside down and in reverse (just like a pinhole camera or a large format camera).

So now I’m one of the few people who looks forward to really still, stifling, humid days. And even though my beautiful Nikkor 18-200mm has arrived, I still have my macro on more than half the time. Water drop photos are not only real, but also addicting to try to master.

That’s it. That’s how it’s done. It’s as simple as learning how chess pieces move, and just as complex as a game of chess. Good luck and think small.

How to get your stomach flat and your butt smaller?

There are number of ways to get your stomach flat and your butt smaller.

We will start with the butt. Your butt is made up of gluteal muscles and a layer of adipose tissue what we call “fat”. In order to get your butt smaller and shape it so it will be solid and firm there is no escape from exercising; however without a proper diet your butt could get bigger as the mass of the muscles increases. The best way to achieve your goal is to combine exercises such as squats, legs up or kickbacks performed with extra weight and a fat reduction diet. The most effective way to do is acquiring the right eating habits: Small meals throughout the day (6-8 in a day) will insure that your metabolism is going on. Also, decrease sugar and fat, eat more vegetables and drinking only water  and you are on the way. Never miss breakfast because if you do it is a recipe for a failure. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It cranks up the metabolic machine. And when you eat breakfast you are less likely to pig out in the evening and ruin your efforts of getting a smaller butt.

For getting a smaller stomach you need to avoid eating simple sugars like white bread and processed junk food that contains saturated fat. Make sure you eat small meals up to eight times a day. When you eat small meals your belly will not protrude like it does when you eat a large one. Large meals stretch the abdominal wall and then it is hard to get it back to normal size when you lose weight.

Sleep at least seven hours a night. Sleeping at night will aid weight loss even faster as we lose weight while sleeping and a good sleep helps our metabolism.

Avoid alcohol. Both men and women consuming high level of alcohol will develop a belly beer. A belly beer is resulted not only by lager but by all types of alcohol.

Another advice is eating a lot of protein like fish, chicken and meat. Then also eat complex carbohydrates like whole wheat bread and lots of fruits and vegetables

The relevant exercises to decrease fat in tour stomach are sit ups, leg ups, and running.

How to Get a Flat Stomach

How to Get a Flat Stomach

Getting a flat stomach is not as hard as one might think. However it does require persistence and will. When we are talking about a bloating stomach we are not just talking aesthetics. Though it can distort your figure and cause aggravation because of it and you may dream of the days your jeans wasn’t so tight it is more than that and it’s not that we are underestimating the importance of self image, no one wants to be asked whether she is pregnant when the last time she cuddled a baby was years ago.

However, this is more than that; it’s a health issue. People who gain belly fat are at greater risk of serious health problems than are people who accumulate fat in other areas. Having a large amount of belly fat increases your risk of: heart disease, stroke, some types of cancer, type 2 diabetes, Insulin resistance, low levels of “good,” cholesterol, Metabolic syndrome, sleep apnea.

Now, I am sure that most people no that it’s not healthy and wouldn’t mind to lose a layer or two around the stomach. The question is how to get a flat stomach.

There are a few tips that will help you start the process of losing weight and getting a flat stomach.

Stay hydrated. Drink a lot. What we perceive as hunger is often actually thirst. Instead of taking a bar and a snack drink water. Not having the amount of water you needed decelerate your metabolic rate burn the fat on your stomach.

Sleep. Having enough sleep makes the exercise program you chose more efficient .it is also important to sleep at night. Not only will you be able to perform better after a good night’s rest, but it will help your sculpting your

Have a proper nutrition. Proper diet is essential for anyone wanting to lose excess stomach fat. Crash diets never work in the long run and cause more harm than they do good. Change your habits: no more junk food. Eat several small meals a day rather than two or three big ones. Foods should be high in protein, but don’t neglect the crabs. You need those for energy.
Exercise: exercise is a key factor as well, but you don’t need long exhausting workouts. Just exercise three times a week for fifteen minutes. Your “stomach muscles” are actually made up mainly of three sets of muscles. Each one is in a different position, and has a different job to do. By the same token, developing each set of muscles will require you to do specific exercises for that set of muscles.

How long does it take to lose weight from a single workout?

My question is on a few different levels. Please feel free to be longwinded because I really want to learn about this.

I’ve been losing weight over the last 2 months on diet alone. I’ve lost about 12 pounds this way. I understand how this works – you can lose weight by reducing caloric intake and changing the types of foods you eat.

What I want to understand is how exercise makes you lose weight. I have the beginnnings of understanding on this – that you’re burning calories with the exercise…like if you eat 1400 calories in a day and you burn 300 then your body only thinks you have eaten 1100, right?

But then how do all those old calories come off? The ones from three months ago that made me gain weight?

On the same vein, if i’ve only been losing weight with diet (steadily), and then i have one really good workout, when will it be reflected in my weight? I’m not saying I expect to lose all my weight with one workout, I’m trying to simplify the question.

Flat stomach,?

Hey, I know you must hear this question a lot, but I’m really stuck on how to get a flat stomach in time for summer.

I have this small layer of fat over my stomach muscles. I’m 5,4, 102lbs, I run every day, I do martial arts twice a week and my diet is healthy!! What I can say is, we do tend to eat things like potatoes and pasta as main staples, but I thought with my sports I needed the extra energy. What can I do?!

Is there anything else I need to do to be successful? Please help me and thanks for the answers :)

How to lose weight going from a raw vegan diet to a meat eating diet?

I was recently put on a high protein- meat eating diet because of my Anemia.

I am afraid I will be gaining weight since I had been a raw vegan for several months prior. I don’t know how to control this fear; my entire day revolves around the calorie intake I take in now, and if it has fat, sugar, and what not. It’s really frustrating.

Can someone give me some healthy eating tips eating normal food? So I can still lose weight?

How often should I eat?

Thanks for the help!

Is it necessary to lose weight to gain a flat stomach?

It is commonly said that if you want to get a flat stomach, you need to combine aerobic exercise, toning exercises and a good diet. However, people always say that you need to lose weight so that the muscles can be SEEN. Does this mean that without weight loss I can’t get a flat stomach? I’m asking because I’m already very slim but I have a flabby middle.

How do I get a flat tummy without getting too skinny..?

Here’s what I mean. I’m 4 ft 11.5 inches tall. Yeah, I’m not pretty tall, lol. I used to weigh 134 lbs. The extra weight was killing me! I was always feeling tired and my knees were hurting a lot. With diet and exercise I’m down to 119. I feel much better, and my body has made quite a transformation. However, I still have some flab on my tummy. Will doing ab exercises everyday do the trick? I don’t want to lose more weight and end up looking sick skinny. Also with the weight I’ve already lost, my butt is kinda disappearing too, lol. It looks nice, but still needs a little work. That’s another reason I don’t want to lose more weight. Can anyone give me some pointers in the getting fit in the right places?? Thank you.

Is it possible the reason a person doesn’t have a flat stomach is because not enough of protein?

Is this possible? I’m not fat at all. I know it has something to do with food because I workout all the time. I just don’t have a 6 pack or even at least a flat belly. Not enough protein in my diet is the reason for no flat stomach?
