My question is on a few different levels. Please feel free to be longwinded because I really want to learn about this.
I’ve been losing weight over the last 2 months on diet alone. I’ve lost about 12 pounds this way. I understand how this works – you can lose weight by reducing caloric intake and changing the types of foods you eat.
What I want to understand is how exercise makes you lose weight. I have the beginnnings of understanding on this – that you’re burning calories with the exercise…like if you eat 1400 calories in a day and you burn 300 then your body only thinks you have eaten 1100, right?
But then how do all those old calories come off? The ones from three months ago that made me gain weight?
On the same vein, if i’ve only been losing weight with diet (steadily), and then i have one really good workout, when will it be reflected in my weight? I’m not saying I expect to lose all my weight with one workout, I’m trying to simplify the question.

I have been gradually losing weight for a few months and have been making great progress. I’ve been able to tone up my arms and legs a little but is it possible to get a flat, defined tummy after 4 full term pregnancies without surgery? Is there a mom out there who has defined abs that hasn’t had surgery?

I’m 17 and overweight. I want to lose about 2 stone in weight fast. I HATE vegetables, fish , salads and nuts. Everytime I look at diets on magazines it says to eat all this stuff. I generally dislike healthy foods so this is really hard for me to achieve. I rely mostly on fast food and foods high in carbs and fat. I keep gaining weight and I’m obsessed with looking at peoples figures and it really depresses me that I’m heavy. I would love to have a completely flat stomach and toned body. I don’t know how to get this when I dislike alot of foods that are good for me. I am also studying for my A levels this year so I have hardly any time to exercise. I’m in school 4 days a week from 8 in the morning to 8.30 at night. I find it really hard to focus on losing weight and studying. I also have no motivation or will power. I really want to be thinner and I think i’d gain alot more confidence if i was thinner also. I want to avoid taking dieting pills or any weight loss suplements. I know this is probably impossible to find but if anyone has any solutions or knows about any diets suitable, leave me know. Thanks

I need tips on losing my belly fat. In the past I used to run 5 miles a day 5 days a week, did strength training exercises, really controlled what I ate and I was never able to lose my belly fat. I just stopped losing weight at one point and no matter how much I ran I my belly fat never went down after a certain point. I am not asking for 6 pack abs, but just a flat tight abs where it won’t jiggle every time I walk.
I used to do a lot of sit ups/ crunches, push ups, and weight training exercises on top of that. Currently I am a 22 yr old male 5′10" weighing anywhere from 165-170 lbs(it varies everyday). Before when I exercised a lot I used to weigh anywhere from 150-155 lbs (I still had jiggly belly like no other). So as you can see I gained about about 15 lbs. and I am starting to look really fat again. What can I do to take off my belly fat once and for all?
Right now, I look like I weigh about 190 lbs. if I take off my shirt. I need serious advice people. I know that through running I didn’t lose too much belly fat and it just stopped after a certain point. I used to workout like this for about a year or maybe even more. Thanks in advance guys!

I am 5"5 and 130 pounds. After my third child, I am having problems losing my belly fat. I heard that you cannot lose belly fat without losing weight everywhere. If I lose any weight, I will be a beanpole and I do not want that. I eat pretty healthy and exercise as much as possible. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I need to lose at least 30lbs before delivery for both mine and the baby’s benefit. Doc says its okay for a woman my size to lose weight while pregnant because I’ve got enough fat stores to fulfil the baby’s caloric needs. I’m due 11/7 so I’m 6 weeks.
Oh, also I was in the process of losing weight until I found out I’m pregnant. I was using medifast(can’t continue because ketosis harms the fetus)now, that I’ve stopped using medifast, I’ve already picked up 4lbs! How do I reverse this gain and continue going DOWN the scale?

i need to increase my calorie intake by 200 calories because my intake is too low
i need to be able to continue losing weight while increasing calories
how many calories should i increase each week?
should i do like an extra 50 calories every day of the week one week
or should i do like an extra 50 calories 3 days of the week and then the next week 50 extra calories the whole week and keep on increasing like that?
how am i supposed to do this and still lose weight?

I went to the hospital today to get my x-ray results from my hip. I have and inflated muscle and the doctor gave me some pills for it but he also said that losing weight will help a lot. I have started a diet and i do 20 sit ups, 50 push ups and go on a stepping machine for 20 minutes. Is there anything else I could do and how long do you think it will take to lose around about a stone?

im dieting and only eating 3 meal a day which on average is about 500-600 calories and drinking 1 litre or more of water. i do 20 min on my stepper and 10 min boxing on the wii fit.I am losing weight but not from my tummy it is still big how could i get a more flatter tummy

i’ve been told by people that i have a butt like the singer beyonce. BUt i would love to get a super flat stomach like hers…does ayone know some excersises i can do to get a washboard stomach without losing weight on my butt.

I keep hearing that you need to burn fat along with doing crunches to lose belly fat. I have been naturaly extremely thin most of my life and in the last couple years have started putting on some weight. I love my body much better now that i have weight on but now I have a belly. Im going on vacation soon and would love to show off the figure that i now have but not with my belly like this. Im scared if I excercise, jog, situps and crunches etc. to lose the belly fat I will end up losing weight in other places also. Any ideas?

can u get a flat stomach just by going on a diet and losing weight or do u have to exercise, too? if u do have to exercise, what exercises do u need to do? i have been on a diet since january and i’ve lost 20 lbs. so far, but for some reason i still have "that stomach". how do u get rid of it..? does this mean i need to lose more weight or just tighten up or something..? i want to get rid of it b/c i feel very self-conscius wearing a shirt and hiding my stomach and all. please help & thank you!

I run the whole lake, and run stairs everyday, but it seems like im not losing weight. I don’t wanna take no diet pills to lose weight cus it not healthy, so what is a healthy way to lose belly fat in 4 weeks??

Im 13 and im 121 lbs and Im 5.5 1/2. Im average but how can I lose weight and be really skinny. People say I have chubby cheeks and I want to get rid of them. I’ve look around and have found that losing weight helps. So, in my case, how can I lose weight and maybe form a well built body(4 pac or 6 pac or w.e).

I am ten pounds overweight because of my belly fat. I am 13. I weigh 110 pounds. My Doctor said that If i don’t lose the fat he will send me to a after school special program for losing weight.
