running really works the stomach, if you do a combination of crunches, situps, then try twisting your torso when you do a situp that works the obliques, and then lay on the floor and hold your feet a couple inches off the floor and raise them up and when you come down stop a couple inches before you touch the floor that will really work the lower abs
the best way to lose stomach fat is to eat the right foods. You cannot expect to lose much even if you exercise like an animal if your diet is not good. Food is 80% of the problem. Make sure you do exceed your maximum caloric intake per day and you should lose weight gradually.
i recommend a mix of cardiovascular activities combined with weightlifting for good results.

Keep to those and if you add excercise, the fat will melt faster. There are no excercises that will target fat in one area. Fat goes away as more calories are burned than taken in.
